    Jersey Sky Devils Club By-Laws (Printer Friendly Version)

    ARTICLE I: NAME

    •  NAME

    The club shall be known as "The Jersey Sky Devils, Inc R/C Aircraft Club."

    •  LOCATION

    The Club is located in Vineland , NJ .

    ARTICLE II: PURPOSE

    The Club's purpose is to further the sport of model aviation and promote the camaraderie of its members.

    ARTICLE III: MEMBERSHIP

    •  QUALIFICATIONS

    P rior to being considered for membership, an individual must:
    1: Have the sponsorship of a Open member.
    2: Present evidence of a valid A.M.A. membership.

    Club membership shall be limited to 100 Open members.

    Members must maintain a valid A.M.A. membership.

    All new Club Members shall be subject to a one year probationary period, retro-active to January 1 st .

    •  DUES

    Individuals admitted to Open membership shall be assessed an initiation fee, the amount of which shall be established by the majority vote of the Open members present at a scheduled meeting. The Current Initiation Fee is $25.00

    Open members shall be assessed annual dues, the amount of which shall be established by the majority vote of the Open members present at a scheduled meeting. The current dues for Open Members is $75.00 per year.

    Members under the age of 18, or still in high school may be classified as a "Junior" Member. An individual may remain a junior member until he or she attains age 18 or completes high school, whichever occurs first. Junior members shall have no voting privileges. Junior members shall be exempt from paying dues and initiation fees. There shall be no limit to the number of junior members. A junior member shall be granted Open membership upon attaining age 18 or upon completion of high school, whichever occurs first. However, after being awarded Open membership, the individual shall be subject to the payment of dues at the current rate.

    All dues must be paid by the regular February Club Meeting. Failure to pay by said meeting may result in automatic loss of club membership and flying site privileges. If club dues are not paid by the February meeting, and the member wishes to re-join, a $25 dollar "re-initiation" fee shall be charged.

    •  RESIGNATION

    Any member in good standing may resign his/her membership by giving written notice to the Club. A former club member who has left the club "in good standing" may rejoin the club, but is subject to the approval by the majority vote of the Open membership present at a scheduled meeting. The normal initiation fee shall be waived, and the member will resume payment of club dues at the current rate.

    •  TERMINATION

    If any member ceases to have the qualification necessary for membership in the AMA, his/her membership in the Club shall thereby terminate, subject to reinstatement upon restoration of eligibility .

    •  EXPULSION

    This section provides for enforcement of the Safety Rules that are related to flying activities or any other unacceptable behavior by an individual member or members. Any individual may be expelled from membership from the Club by a two -thirds (2/3) majority vote of the membership if in the officers' determination, such individual willfully commits any act or omission which is a violation of any of the terms of these Bylaws, or the Rules of the AMA, or which is detrimental the Club, the AMA, or to model aviation.

    F. REINSTATEMENT

    A majority vote of the membership at a regular club meeting is required for reinstatement to the club.

    ARTICLE IV: OFFICERS

    •  OFFICERS

    The Club shall elect officers in the position of President, Vice- President, Secretary, Treasurer.

    •  ELIGIBILITY

    Prospective Officers must be active club members for a minimum of two years from the date of their joining the club.

    •  TERM OF OFFICE

    The term of office for all officers shall be one year. Club officers shall be exempt from payment of dues while in office.

    •  DUTIES

    President shall preside at meetings, VP shall preside in the absence of the president, Secretary records minutes, Treasurer handles club funds .

    •  APPOINTED OFFICERS

    Safety officer, Field Marshall, Committee Chairman,Program chairman.

    •  VACANCIES

    Officer vacancies are to be filled by vote of the remaining officers.

    ARTICLE V: MEETINGS

    A. REGULAR MEETINGS

    Meetings shall be held on the last Wednesday of each month, except that there shall be no meeting during the month of November, and the meeting for the month of December shall be on the first Wednesday of the month.

    Meetings shall commence at 7:30 PM.

    At the discretion of the membership, meetings may be held at the flying site.

    All business shall be conducted in accordance with the vote of the majority of the members present at a scheduled meeting.

    Although monthly meeting attendance is not mandatory, each member should make an effort to attend as many meetings as possible.

    B. SPECIAL MEETINGS

    ARTICLE VI: RECORD KEEPING

    All records are passed on when new officers are elected.

    ARTICLE VII: COMMITTEES

    There shall be a permanent Safety Committee, chaired by an appointee of the President. The Chairman of the Safety Committee shall appoint two additional members to the Safety Committee.

    ARTICLE VIII: NOMINATIONS, ELECTIONS, AND RECALL

    •  NOMINATIONS

    Nominations for officer position can be from the floor or by mail to the Club Secretary. Nominations of officers shall be held during the October meeting. Mail Nominations must be received before the October meeting.

    •  ELECTION

    Elections are held at the regularly scheduled December meeting.

    ARTICLE IX: MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS

    •  NEWSLETTER

    The Club Secretary shall publish a monthly newsletter containing the minutes from the previous meeting, as well as any other pertinent news concerning the club.

    •  SAFETY

    Safety Rules are held in the document titled "Jersey Sky Devils Field Rules"

    Damage caused to any aircraft or field support equipment by any pilot's aircraft, children, pets, or guests, etc. becomes the liability of the pilot. The pilot responsible for the damage will lose flying privileges until the liability is settled. Student pilots shall assume liability for damage caused during instruction.

    •  DISSOLUTION OF CLUB

    The duration of the club shall be perpetual. The club may be dissolved with the approval of two -thirds vote of the membership. In the event of club disbanding, all monies raised by dues and fees shall be donated to the A.M.A.

    ARTICLE X: AMENDMENT OF THESE BYLAWS AND SAFETY RULES

    •  BYLAWSThe by-laws of the Jersey Sky Devils may be amended by the following procedure:

    •  Reading of the proposed amendment at three scheduled monthly meetings.

    •  Publication of the proposed amendment in Three editions of the club newsletter.

    •  Ratification of the proposed amendment at the third scheduled meeting by majority vote of the Open members present.

    •  FIELD RULES

    The field rules of the Jersey Sky Devils may be amended at a scheduled meeting by majority vote of the Open members present.

    ARTICLE XI: GRIEVANCE PROCEDURE

    (FLIGHT AND SAFETY RULES)

    The grievance procedure provides a mechanism to enforce existing safety rules by providing a progressive disciplinary system when needed. Although most complaints can be resolved informally, if a complaint is serious or cannot be resolved informally, the matter should be referred to the Safety Committee for its consideration by means of a Grievance Form to be filled out and turned into the Safety Committee Chairman. At least one witness is required to sign the Grievance Form The Safety officer/Committee shall use its judgment in carrying out action on the following :


    a. A grievance form will be filled out and turned into the Safety Officer/Committee Chairman. At least one witness is required.


    b. FIRST VIOLATION:

    Viewpoints of both complainants and accused will be considered. Complainant's name will be disclosed. If needed, a verbal reprimand will be given to the accused by the Safety Officer/Committee, and this will be recorded in the Club records.

    c. SECOND VIOLATION:

    Complainant's name will be disclosed. The accused has the right to a written rebuttal, to be reviewed by the Club Safety Officer/Committee. If the Committee so decides, the flying privileges of the accused will be suspended for thirty (30) days. Written notice of this shall be issued and a copy published in the Club newsletter.

    d. THIRD VIOLATION:

    Safety Officer/Committee will notify the accused in writing and the Club members via the Club newsletter that the Club will vote on the expulsion of the accused at the next meeting. Said expulsion will last for a one-year minimum. A member may be expelled from the Club only upon a two -thirds (2/3) majority vote of the membership present at the meeting. Voting will be by secret ballot at a regular monthly meeting. The expelled member may reapply for membership after the expiration of the expulsion time period.

    e. The three actions will not be enforced unless they are accumulated within a two -year period of time.

    f. Any member receiving a Grievance, who directs any retaliation action against the person filing said grievance, will be subject to immediate expulsion from the Club. This is to include threats, intimidation, physical harm, intentional equipment damage, or any other action deemed to be retaliatory by the Club Officers.
